The literal meaning of initiation is commencement or beginning. In spiritual words initiation(Guru diksha) is a divine process by which a spiritual Guru awakes our inherent dormant consciousness through the transference of his potent spiritual power (called shaktipat) in to us and then go on enlightening us through Guru Mantra, which the disciple recites every day. This is the most important spiritual process by which a disciple gets a new birth-called spiritual birth. Initiation is the first step towards our internal spiritual journey. Initiation is not an ordinary incident. It is a divine act which gives an ordinary man a platform from where he can start his internal and external empowerment. Guru Diksha is not just to |

receive Guru’s name or becoming follower of someone. Its meaning is far more subtle and deep that cannot be taken lightly. In this act the Guru transplant a small seed as a part of his own earned spiritual energy within the aspirant and gradually nourish him like a small plant protecting him from all mighty external effects to see him turned in to a large tree which gives ample shade (means fully spiritually empowered and transformed being). |

But initiation is only successful when we are prepared for it both heartily and intellectually. Preparation means when we are completely convinced about the step we are going to take without any confusion and doubt. To come for initiation requires a mental acceptance and voluntary feeling with a true heart. Our submission to the Guru is always indispensable. Unshakable faith and patience is the vital force to sustain the constant devotion and true feeling towards your Guru. We can only do full justification to Guru Diksha and the Guru’s effort when we receive it with complete unconditional surrender and full conviction. And be regular to the given practice. |

Initiation helps a man enriching and enlightening his soul power through reciting Guru Mantra received from the mouth of His Living Guru as it is called ‘Guru-Diksha’. It awakes all the sleeping faculties in man’s body. It is something unique and divine. It controls our stress, anxiety, tensions and so many other irregularities in our mind and body. |

Guru bestows a new life in which we can face all sorrows cheerfully. With the grace of a Guru we will be able to see this world as heaven and not as a place of sorrow and suffering. When you take initiation, the Guru will give you some small practice which must be performed regularly. This regularity is the base for higher kriya yoga practices. The Guru may ask you to practice mantra for only 5 or 10 minutes daily. At first this may seem very little to you, but the test is in maintaining the regular practice. Many of us spend hours in useless talks and useless work, yet we find it very difficult to spare only 5-10 minutes in morning or evening to practice the mantra, pranayam or a few simple asanas. In the life of a disciple, regularity is spiritual training in itself. |

Guru Diksha is the origin from where the Ganges of spiritual knowledge starts to flow towards the merger in to the supreme Ocean (the one and only supreme authority, the source of every living entity). |

In life we encounter thousands of people. Many among them remain to the level of introduction only. Hundreds of them we develop and establish relationship. Most relationships we are offered automatically as blood relationships. But the Guru-disciple relationship is different from all others. It starts with the aspirant unshakable faith and love towards the Guru and the Guru’s assimilation to accept him as his disciple like a small child. |
